There is much you can accomplish with an image processor. Thanks to effects filters, a simple and dull photo can be turned into something more interesting, without having to apply masks, make selections and so on. You just need to select a filter and make a few adjustments if you need to. This is the main focus of PhotoChances LAB. It offers a very broad range of filters and you can apply and configure them without too much effort. If you do not have any inspiration, you can let the program surprise you with random images and effects.

Navigating through the setup wizard's stages is not a challenging task. You will find the usual settings, which require selecting a destination folder or creating shortcuts. Before starting the actual installation process, you can tick an option to install a PhotoShop plugin.

PhotoChances LAB includes a vast array of effects filters. They are listed in a column, on the left side of the interface. A large number of filters are placed in categories, in the same area. You only need to load a picture and select one of the filters to apply it. Once you apply a filter, you can adjust its intensity, luminosity, contrast or saturation by clicking and dragging a series of sliders, located on the right side of the window.

Certain filters come with additional options for adjusting color channels or blending the effect with the loaded picture. Regardless of what filter you select, you will always find the same options for adjusting the luminosity and contrast levels for the original picture. You can see how a filter affects your image, in real time, in the preview area. If an effect is too subtle, you may click a check box to display the unaltered picture.

There is a reason the word "chances" is included in the software's name. If you do not have any good ideas and you don't know where to start, you can load a random image at any time. The option is located next to the traditional loading function and it will select a random image from the Pictures folder, in the Windows libraries. This folder is targeted by default, but you can add new ones in the software's settings panel. It is also possible to select a random filter by clicking a dice icon, in the upper left corner of the interface. Clicking a small arrow, attached to the dice icon, will bring up a few options for configuring the random selection. You may set the application to select one or more effects families, combine them or look for subtle, average or extreme effects.

Pros

The application comes with a huge number of filters. It lets you adjust them by using a series of very simple tools. PhotoChances LAB makes it possible to select a random filter or a random picture. Any adjustment can be saved and used on different images, at a later date.

Cons

The lack of a search function makes it harder to find a specific effect. Besides that, when the software selects a random effect, it does not tell what effect is selected. From subtle to extreme effects, PhotoChances LAB provides a vast range of filters, which can be applied instantly to any photo.
